Flood water continues to flow down the Barwon River downstream of Geelong.

Parts of Greater Geelong are still under a ‘watch and act’ direction from the SES as the Barwon, Moorabool and Leigh Rivers remain flooded.

A number of roads remain closed including around South Geelong, Breakwater, Highton, Armstrong Creek, Freshwater Creek and Mount Duneed. Check traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au for more information.

South Barwon Cricket Club, the Barwon River’s rowing clubs and Landy Fields have been affected by rising floodwaters.

All local junior and senior men’s cricket was called off on Saturday although Geelong Region Bowls fixtures went ahead and Barwon Region women’s cricket played on Sunday.

Halfway through the month Geelong has recorded 81.2mm of rain compared to a historical average of 40.9mm for all of October.

More rain is forecast for later in the week with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting a 25 percent chance of 5mm on Thursday, 7mm on Friday and 10mm on Saturday.
