Aquatic centre fully reopened

Leisurelink has reopened following the completion of the major upgrade of the 50-metre pool.

The Waurn Ponds council-run aquatic centre benefitted from a new tiled concrete pool and improvements to the waterslide, splash park, concourse, and storage.

Activities and classes have returned to Leisurelink, including Webstar’s Swim School lessons.

Cr Peter Murrihy, chair of the Leisure and Recreation portfolio, thanked members and aquatic users for their patience while the upgrade was delivered.

“The addition of the new 50-metre pool provide the best facilities for our residents to swim, exercise, and to undertake vital rehabilitation programs,” he said.

“We look forward to seeing you back in the pool soon.”

To celebrate the reopening of the 50-metre pool, the Swim, Sport and Leisure team is offering a range of activities in the coming weeks.

A free morning tea of coffee and cake will be on offer on Friday June 10 from 10am to 1pm.

Members will enjoy free waterslides from 11am to 4.30pm for the duration of the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, while the general community can look forward to a ‘Pool Party’ on Sunday 19 June.

More details on the latter event will be provided closer to the date.
