Founder of KAZWORKS and co-founder of Barwon Heads Arts Council, Kaz McGlynn is an artist and arts educator known in the past 30 years for her public artworks, as well as educating thousands of students across a multitude of mediums.

Working collaboratively with community groups, Kaz has won awards for her public artworks including from Design Council Australia, Small Business and Education. An ambassador for Australia in fashion design in Japan, she’s also worked and researched in the US as educator and designer.

From her studio in Ocean Grove, Kaz seeks commissions for public art and specialises in coordinating community groups. Her past projects include M2M Greater City of Geelong, Barwon Heads Community Gardens, and Ocean Grove foreshore sculptures.

art’sKool@ KAZWORKS offers various art classes and workshops. Adult, after-school kids and teen art classes run throughout the school terms and the popular holiday program during school holidays.

“One of the goals at art’sKool is to foster our students’ confidence in themselves and their ability,” Kaz says. “The studio is a fun and safe learning environment where students learn correct art theories and techniques from qualified artists and educators.

“art’sKool also specialises in nurturing and developing students (adults and children) through the NDIS program – both self and agency-managed.

“Art is cool at art’sKool!”

Kaz is well-known for her sharing of knowledge to help inspire and encourage her students on their journey of self-discovery and growth. Her team is leading the way as an outstanding business and service provider to the wider community, especially those with a disability.

“We offer educational artistic programs through a professional, hands-on approach for all ages and abilities. The skills acquired here can be integrated into everyday life,” she says.

“Students feel a huge sense of achievement and have the opportunity to interact with other folks who often develop into life-long friends. ‘It’s our happy safe place’, is how our students put it.

“Our workshops and art classes are designed to not only teach certain skills, but to also work on each person’s own strengths.

“art’sKool is unique as we offer art and pottery programs to students as young as five years old, and for all abilities – from absolute beginners to experienced artists – using a wide range of techniques and mediums.”

Kaz believes the appreciation of the arts is an attribute of both a complete person and a healthy society and urges those who are involved to take part in community art projects, both locally and within the greater Geelong and Bellarine area.
