An unknown person has died in a tent fire at Geelong Showgrounds early on Tuesday morning.
CFA crews extinguished the blaze after receiving an emergency call shortly before 2am and found human remains inside what was left of the tent.
Police were investigating the scene later that morning but had yet to identify the body.
“At this stage the exact circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be determined and the investigation is ongoing,” a police spokesperson said.
The spokesperson urged anyone with information on the fire or the victim to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
