Support building for children’s charity

Burbank Homes is granting a wish a month for seriously sick kids through its new partnership with Starlight Children’s Foundation.

The homebuilder will celebrate becoming Starlight’s new bedroom renovation partner with kid’s activities, fundraisers and giveaways at its Mount Duneed display home on 2 June.

Burbank Managing Director Jarrod Sanfilippo encouraged locals to support Starlight by coming to the launch at the Unity Drive display home.

“As a family business, being aligned with such a great charity like the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which supports and looks after families, was a no brainer for us,” he said.

“We’ll be encouraging people from all over to join us at our family fun afternoon to raise money for Starlight and mark the beginning of this new adventure.“

Stories of kids like Jemma inspired Burbank to sign up with Starlight.

The 15-year-old had to learn to walk again due to a painful spinal condition and has long road of surgery and rehabilitation ahead.

But Jemma’s eyes lit up when she opened the door to her bedroom after Starlight renovated it.

“That’s so awesome, I’m so happy,“ she said seeing the striped walls and huge bunk bed.

Burbank will sponsor similar makeovers to modify bedrooms for treatment and rehab, or simply create a special retreat, Mr Sanfilippo explained.

“It’s the perfect way for our skills to be utilised for a philanthropic cause,” he said.

Next Saturday’s free event features hot donuts and coffees, for a small donation, and appearances by the FOX FM Black Thunders team and Starlight’s mascot, StarMan.
