Oishi-m [Oy-shee-em] a children’s wear brand from Torquay has proudly won the Powercor 2017 Geelong Business Excellence Awards – Business of the Year Award.
Established in 1986, the awards recognise organisations that have achieved business excellence in the Geelong region and this year Oishi-m received the highest commendation among many esteemed businesses.
This year’s awards were held at The Pier in Geelong in front of a sell out crowd of 600 people. The awards are one of the oldest continuously running and most prestigious business awards programs in Australia, and, as such, provide significant recognition and celebration of business achievement and performance.
Known for its cult-like following of its small production run children’s clothing, Oishi-m clinched the Retailer of The Year Award for the second straight year, plus the top gong – Geelong Business of the Year! Oishi-m’s small team have packed quite a punch; they have an innovative retail business, have achieved globally accredited B Corp Certification, have shipped their funky children’s clothing to over 37 countries in the last year, been featured as the clothing of choice of Zoe Proudman-Reid in Channel Ten’s Offspring TV show all while having a community-minded approach to business.
Owner Miyo Fallshaw says: “With more than 16,000 businesses based in the wider Geelong region, this is an incredible achievement. We are exceptionally proud to do business, live and work locally, and love our proximity to home, our community, and the broader region. To be celebrated for our achievement in sharing our magic not only locally, across Australia and internationally is incredible.
“Thanks to our team, customers, families and communities for being part of our story; past, present and future. Our success comes from their support, and we’re humbled and extremely honoured to be recognised by our peers and the GBEA crew on this occasion.”
