Green thumbs will dig deep for a community planting day in Geelong on Sunday.
Planet Ark will run the event as part of its National Tree Day, with the support of City Hall, Barwon Water and Lions club members.
Planting activities from 9.30am to 2.30pm would focus in Geelong on Drysdale Rd, Hamlyn Heights, City Hall said.
The work would spruce up the road’s section of a 12km Ted Wilson Trail beginning at Lovely Banks.
The trail’s namesake, a former police sergeant, was honoured with the trail title for his contribution to cycling through Barwon Regional Bicycle Council and City Hall’s bike strategy.
City Hall began The Greenway Project in 2014 to plant more than 60,000 trees and 20,000 shrubs and grasses along the trail by 2018.
Lions members will cater for Sunday’s event and parking will be available along Drysdale Ave.
