After 30 years buying lotto tickets a retired Geelong man won $100,000 in his first go at a new game on Wednesday afternoon.
“Goodness me!” the man said. “I’ve never won anything in my life a part from a chook raffle.”
The man entered the Lucky Lotteries draw out for the first time out of curiosity when he saw an in-store advertisement.
“So it’s terrific I’ve won,” he said.
“I’ll probably give most of it to my kids. We’ll arrange something to tell them.”
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased his entry from Belmont Lotto.
Store owner Richard Stone was delighted to have sold the winning ticket to a local customer.
“How’s that for beginner’s luck,” Mr Stone said.
“There’s been a couple of big wins in Geelong over the weekend, so it’s great to see the third sold here.”
