Leading roles for young musos

Two young Surf Coast musicians will play leading roles in more ways than one at a youth music festival in Anglesea next week.
Immanuel Dreessens-Owusu and Seb Fischer will both play in bands on the bill for SHEBANG! Youth Music Event after also helping organise the show.
Owusu will perform with his Immy Owusu and Band, while Fischer will take the stage as part of Neuritis.
Melbourne punk-rock trio The Sinking Teeth will headline, with funk/blues/rock outfit Righteous Desmond and alternative band De Porsal rounding out the bill.
The event will be under the umbrella of FReeZA, a State Government initiative helping young Victorians plan and run drug, smoking and alcohol-free events with no pass-outs.
Thirteen-year-old Owusu said the free all-ages show at Anglesea would be part of celebrations for National Youth Week, from 31 March to 9 April.
“It’s a great event for people who want to listen to some awesome music and have a good time,”
he said.
Anglesea Memorial Hall will host SHEBANG! Youth Music Event on 7 April, with doors opening at 5.45pm.
Organisers said the gig would be “fully-supervised”.
Entry would be free although patrons could make a gold-coin donation upon entry, with proceeds put back into the FReeZA program, the organisers said.
