Hughes Street is the six-shop-stop in Bell Park for shoppers’ every Christmas need this festive season.
With 40 years in Geelong, Siketas Butcher is no stranger to the Christmas rush.
The family-owned shop is stocked up with turkeys, which arrived fresh on Tuesday, and a range of Christmas hams.
Owners Bruno Siketas, son Tony and brother Milenko, smoke and cure their delicious smallgoods onsite with prosciutto, pancetta and more to add a Mediterranean touch to festivities.
The store is a meat-eater’s heaven with its massive variety and has multiple five-star ratings online for its friendly customer service.
Next door, Weiser’s Bakery has all the Christmas treats including German Stollen, ginger bread Santas and Christmas tree cookies.
The bakery cooks fresh bread daily and has piping hot pies, pasties and sausage rolls for a big family feast.
Bell Park Farm Fresh, in the same block, has all the veggies to go with a Christmas roast or a refreshing salad and colourful flowers for loved ones.
And, of course, the store has a large range of fresh fruit for a Christmas platter or pav.
Hughes Street newcomer 1 Fish 2 Fish has everything a coastal Christmas celebration needs from prawns for cocktails to fresh mussels and crayfish.
With 28 years in the business, store manager Sophocles Mantazaridis knows how to get the freshest seafood.
Soph makes his way to Footscray fish markets each week for the best seafood straight from Bass Strait and Australia’s coast.
“Everyone knows me in this industry,” he said.
“It’s about being there bright and early to get the best fish.”
For shoppers who still haven’t found all their festive needs, Newlanders IGA has everything else covered.
From practical goods like wrapping paper to continental groceries and something a little fancy from the delicatessen, it’s got it all.
And shoppers shouldn’t forget to pick up a slab of cold beer, Champagne or Christmas brandy from the liquor section while there.
Once the festivities are done James Ip’s Bell Park Pharmacy has Tony Ferguson weight loss products to help shed the Christmas kilos.
The friendly and professional team delivers modern health services with old-fashioned personal care.
“Customers love coming in to chat to us about their health concerns and getting good advice,” said store owner James.
