CONTROVERSIAL body artist Stelarc will appear at Lorne Sculpture Festival with one ear implanted into his left forearm.
The festival’s curator, Julie Collins, expected the Cypriot-Australian artist to be a major attraction.
Stelarc has undergone numerous procedures to use his body as a canvas for his abstract art. Some of his works include three films shot inside his body and “suspension performances” using piercing hooks through his skin.
Stelarc’s Lorne contribution will include a four-metre statue titled Earn on Arm, depicting his transplant.
Ms Collins said the three-week festival from this weekend would attract thousands of patrons.
She encouraged them to inspect Stelarc’s work as part of the festival’s sculpture trail.
“There will be 40 sculptures along the trail from the pier to the river, so the exhibition is much longer than previous years.”
