Energy savings from the sun

Torquay-based Green Energy Options is hitting the road to talk about latest advances in solar power and battery storage technology.
The company’s roadshow will give home and business owners opportunities to see products, learn about new technologies and ask questions of experts, with information sessions being held around Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula and Surf Coast.
“The solar industry is fast moving,” Green Energy Options director Aaron Lewtas says.
“Three big things that we’re seeing in the solar industry right now are an upsurge in inquiries about battery storage, a steady increase in the number of businesses installing solar, and a trend to smarter micro-inverter solar systems.”
Tesla recently grabbed attention with the launch of of its Powerwall battery for household electricity storage, while Enphase’s new AC battery, with a low starting price of around $2500 and the ability to be retrofitted to existing solar systems, has seen double the expected uptake in pre-orders.
“During the roadshow we’ll discuss storage options available for grid connected and off-grid homeowners,“ Mr Lewtas says.
With smart businesses looking to reduce overheads through efficiencies, solar has become poplar for cutting electricity costs.
“Any business using power during the day is in a good position to take advantage of solar,” Mr Lewtas says.
The roadshow will also present information on Enphase micro-inverters, offering panel level optimisation, improved system performance, enhanced safety, and greater flexibility for installations and expansions.
Green Energy Options’ information sessions will be at Torquay, 7pm to 9pm, on 26 July; Ocean Grove, 28 July; Belmont, 3 August; and Winchelsea, 4 August.
