Australian blues and roots acts will take to three stages over the three day Motor City Music Festival, with special international artists.
Local blues singer and guitarist Chris Wilson has been a favourite in the Geelong music scene for 20 years.
His musical gift and talenta harmonica skills have granted him the opportunity to work on recordings with the likes of James Reyne, Hunters and Collectors, Archie Roach, X and Deborah Conway.
Jimi Hocking has enjoyed gold and platinum success as the lead guitarist in The Screaming Jets.
He was looking forward to leading the ‘super jam’ on the Saturday of Motor City Music.
“I’m excited to return to Motor City this year,“ Hocking told the Indy.
“There’ll be a bunch of guns on guitars doing a super blues jam. It’s going to be a lot of fun.“
Sweet Felicia and the Honeytones will be among the performers guesting with Jimi Hockings’ Blues Machine.
“If people don’t go out to see music live, we’re going to lose it,“ Felicia told the Indy.
“I’d really like to see more people supporting the local live music scene. People might not realise it, but it means so much.“
19-Twenty are a riff and groove-based blues band that were handpicked by Cold Chisel Management as the only support band to open for Cold Chisel’s first club gig in 30 years and their last as the original line-up in front of 1500 screaming fans, which sold out in three minutes.
Also in the blues and roots line-up is the award-winning quartet Bondi Cigars who have been nominated for the Best Blues & Roots Album ARIA in 2003 for Down In The Valley and were awarded Best Blues Album at the 1996 Lithgow Blues Festival for After Closing Time.
Other highlights include Cleveland Blues and USA’s Eugene ‘Hideaway’ Bridges.
The blues and roots performers will play throughout the three-day festival across three stages from 11 to 13 March.
