All set for your function

With a newly decked out, refurbished outdoor area for alfresco dining and functions, Shell Club now serves as an ideal setting for a function or wedding.
General manager Karen Wood said that over the past four years, Shell Club has transformed into a venue of exceptional customer service, with more to offer non-members who seek a high quality dining experience.
She said the new alfresco area had a calming ambience.
“There’s a huge water feature in the garden which backs onto the function room,” she said.
“The garden’s full of gardiniers, magnolias, kangaroo paws and roses. It’s especially beautiful the way it’s lit at night with tear drop lights from a feature tree.
“At Shell Club, we pride ourselves on a quality dining experience.”
Current specials include a $17.50 tradies parmi and pot. A free bottle of sparkling currently comes with every bucket of prawns purchased by an outdoor diner.
The club’s recent refurbishments included the installation of a large outdoor TV screen which will play sport matches throughout the year and during footy season.
It also enables functions to roll out a photo slideshow as well as play music from a new surround sound speaker system.
The alfresco area will soon be home to Sunday afternoon entertainment, in addition to the club’s regular Morning Melodies and Friday night live music by the bar.
Karen said Thursday nights are growing in popularity since the recent launch of QuizzaMe, a game-show style trivia night.
“No pen or paper is needed. Everyone has wireless buzzers and it can be really funny,” she said.
“We’ve had a huge turnout these past few weeks and it’s really taking off.
“There are free drinks and spot prizes to be won. It’s fun for all ages.”
The club also offers an evening door-to-door community bus service to customers from Wednesday to Sunday.
Shell Club is at 76 Purnell Road, Corio. For more information or function bookings, visit shellclubcorio.com or phone 5275 4061.
