Truck crash kills Whittington teen

ERIN PEARSON
A WHITTINGTON teenager has died in a horrific collision with a logging truck, according to Geelong police.
Leading Senior Constable Glenn Stephens said the teenager’s Nissan and the truck collided at a North Shore intersection about 8.30pm Tuesday.
Police believed the truck was travelling south on Seabeach Parade when it struck the driver’s side of the sedan as it travelled west on Walchs Road.
A young passenger in the sedan escaped the crash uninjured but the driver died at the scene, police said.
Friends and family left tributes and messages of condolences on Facebook.
“Your heart and soul rest in peace, may you live on in those who love and adore you, you will forever have a special place in my heart,” a post said.
Police were investigating the cause of the crash when the Independent went to press.
The 19-year-old’s distressed family did not want his name published, police said.
The Geelong region has recorded seven road fatalities since January. The state road toll is 110.
