JAN JUC teen India Robinson will seek to continue her winning form when she takes on some of Australia’s best junior surfers at home this weekend.
Robinson will contest the Jan Juc leg of the 2015 Rip Curl Grom Search after winning her first World Surf League Women’s Pro Junior event last month in New South Wales.
The 16-year-old will have the advantage of surfing her home break in the second round of the Grom Search series.
Some 100 of Australia’s best 16-and-under surfers are scheduled to compete, with a favourable forecast of one-metre surf, offshore winds and temperatures in the high twenties.
Robinson will hope to use the Grom Search as another opportunity to enhance her form before representing Team Australia in an ISA World Junior Championships.
Other local surfers set to compete in the Grom Search this weekend include Jan Juc duo Tane Bowden and Xavier Huxtable and Barwon Heads’ Billy Harrison.
Organisers said heat draws and schedules would be posted on surfingvic.com.
After Jan Juc the five-event series heads to Western Australia’s Trigg Point, South Australia’s Yorkes Peninsula and Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. The first event was run in small surf at Maroubra.
Leaders on the national ratings will qualify for a Rip Curl GromSearch National Final at Sydney’s North Narrabeen from 11 to 13 January.
