A UNIQUE confluence of Aboriginal art and Indigenous health will adorn the walls of Geelong’s public hospital for patients and visitors alike.
A partnership between hospital operator Barwon Health, City of Greater Geelong, Grovedale’s Narana Aboriginal Cultural Centre and Lara’s Margoneet Correctional Centre will develop the art display.
Barwon Health acting chief Paul Cohen said the display at University Hospital Geelong was part of efforts to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
“Lining the walls with Aboriginal art provides a visual experience for visitors,” Mr Cohen said.
“Culture is an important factor to consider in improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.”
Barwon Health said the contributing artists had used stories with significant meaning to reflect health and healing in the artworks.
