Butcher’s meaty donations win Lara’s first community business award

Lara has recognised local traders for their community spirit at an inaugural business award night.
Twenty-two nominations forced judges into painstaking deliberations for the Lara District Business Award, presented before a packed house at Millars on Wednesday.
Lara Quality Meats won the award for donating products to various community groups and for its roster of shopfront sausage sizzles to assist local fundraisers.
Owner Andrew Gunther accepted the award from Lara Chamber of Commerce’s Natalie Candy and community bank branch manager Damien Foster, whose organisations initiated the award.
Mr Gunther won prizes including $1000 to donate to a local charity or initiative of his choice.
The other two finalists were Curves Lara and New Home and Commercial Clean.
Ms Candy toasted the success of the award presentation.
“We couldn’t be happier with how the evening went and congratulate Lara Quality meats as a popular and deserving winner,” she said.
The Independent was a sponsor of the award.
