Vet clinic opening up to public

GEELONG residents will have a unique opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes view of a veterinary emergency centre when U-Vet Geelong Animal Emergency opens its doors to the public for an open day in September. Members of the public can go behind the scenes between 10am and 12.30pm, on Saturday 12 September, at the clinic at 102 Fyans Street, Geelong.
Hospital director Phillipa Power said: “U-Vet Geelong Animal Emergency provides an important after hours emergency veterinary service to the community. You just never know when your pet will need emergency treatment and this is a great opportunity to learn about how our experienced vets and nurses manage pet emergencies. It’s also a great way for children to understand what happens to their beloved pet during a medical emergency in a non-threatening way, and for mums and dads to get some practical tips too.”
The open day will feature fun and interesting activities for the whole family, opportunities to learn about pet care and the chance to ask the experienced U-Vet veterinarians and veterinary nurses lots of questions. Families with small children are encouraged to bring along a favourite teddy or toy animal.
