Still got the blues for arts grants

BLUES icon Wayne Jury wasn’t exactly busking when he set up his trusty guitars at City Hall this week.
Rather, he was lending his support to one of few funding opportunities available to musicians looking to get their talents and creativity out to the public.
Grants of up to $6000 are on offer for individuals, and NFP bodies, under the city’s community arts and grants festival program.
The grants come in three types – for one-off events such as celebrating a milestone; helping festivals grow and expand; and for events that have been successful for at least three years.
Groups helped out in last year’s program included Reconciliation in the Park Poppykettle Children’s Festival and the Geelong Summer Rock Festival – and Wayne Jury’s Blues Boot Camp.
