TANNOCH Brae Aged Care offers a lifestyle rich in variety and choice.
Lifestyle coordinator Mary Simms and her team all bring different attributes to Tannoch Brae, promoting independence, stimulation, relaxation, and purpose to build self-esteem, all important to achieving a wonderful quality of life for residents.
Key aspects of the Tannoch Brae program are:
· physical, through activities such as movement to music, carpet bowls, quoits, walking, and hydrotherapy;
· social, through hoy, bingo, art and crafts, “armchair travel”, regular bus outings, a happy hour, community singing, Tannoch Brae choir, visits to men’s sheds, and gardening;
· emotional, through validation, music, relaxation, pet therapy, a Sundowners program, and pampering with nail, hair and beauty care;
· cultural and spiritual, though theme days, church services, pastoral visits, footy tipping, and ANZAC services;
· cognitive, through brain gym, crosswords, quiz, arts and crafts, scrabble, whiteboard word games, jigsaws, reading, resident meetings, reminiscing, and writing life stories; and
· community, through outings, intergenerational activities, entertainers, shopping in the community and in house; the Tannoch Brae kiosk; and visits by RSL members.
Tannoch Brae general manager Jill Stephens loves mixing with the residents at every opportunity.
“Each day is different. Residents say there’s always something to do at Tannoch but if they choose to have a quiet day then that’s okay, too.”
Tannoch Brae has a homely atmosphere, with lovely courtyards, a sensory garden, resident arts and crafts on display and the sound of fun and laughter daily.
