Jobs promise in ALDI Torquay bid

UP TO 20 jobs could arrive with a new ALDI supermarket at Torquay, the company has announced.
ALDI said it had lodged a development application with Surf Coast Shire to build the new store on Rudd Avenue, near Torquay Hotel.
The company was “encouraging local residents to contact council to express their support”.
“We are excited about the prospect of bringing the ALDI difference to Torquay,” an ALDI Australia spokesperson said.
“There are proven benefits to having an ALDI in the local area, from increased grocery retail options to an overall reduction in grocery costs, and we know these benefits make a real difference for Australian families.
“Based on initial research, we can see there is a strong appetite for an ALDI store amongst Torquay shoppers.”
The spokesperson said the Torquay store would create 15 to 20 jobs
The company hoped to open the store in 2017 if it won planning approval.
A new Coles store is set to open in Torquay, giving the town its third supermarket.
