Getting involved in sports is easier than ever, thanks to an innovative new come-and-try system at YMCA Geelong.
Traditional come-and-try days are held on weekends, interrupting precious family time. But YMCA Geelong staff have introduced a whole week for residents to try sports without taking time away from their families.
Residents keen to have a go at one of the many sports featured at YMCA stadiums in Newtown and North Geelong can book in for a free group session during an actual activity session from 20-24 April, giving them the chance to experience their chosen sport in real time.
“Getting involved in sport is a great way to keep fit, meet new people and learn new skills,” says YMCA Geelong centre manager Renae Lamaro.
“By extending the come-and-try sessions to a full week we’re giving residents a greater opportunity to try sports at the YMCA without taking up precious weekend time.
“We believe this new system will make it easier for Geelong and region residents to access our programs.”
As charitable, not-for-profit incorporated association, YMCA’s programs and services offer the greater Geelong region’s community opportunities to be healthier, happier and connected.
The sports programs include basketball, gymnastics, cheerleading, trampolining and judo.
YMCA Geelong caters for all ages, from pre-school children’s modified programs to teach them how to move through play, right up to seniors programs designed to keep older residents active and healthy.
