Indy pages now available online

THE Independent has adopted technology for internet users to see pages the same as they appear in the paper.
Managing editor Tony Galpin said the technology would appeal to readers who wanted a traditional newspaper in an electronic format.
“Readers can simply go to geelongindependent.com.au and click on the ePaper option to see every page of all editions, including our real estate lift-out,” he said.
“The site still includes a usual internet news service of headlines to click on for linked stories but readers who like the traditional appearance of a newspaper page will like the ePaper.
“It’s easy to use and you don’t miss anything. It’s all there – stories, headlines, pictures, even the advertisements – just as they appear on the pages.
“Readers can even print pages and share them electronically with friends and family.”
Mr Galpin said access to the Independent’s ePapers was free, just like the real thing.
Readers were already finding the online pages of local news and advertising, he said.
“Thousands of our ePaper pages have already been viewed without the Independent even promoting them, so demand for an electronic version of the paper is already established and growing.”
