A FUNDING injection is set to relieve a squeeze on kinder places at Grovedale, according to a kindergarten director.
Lynda Lehman said St Paul’s Lutheran Kindergarten was one of only two in the state to receive an expansion grant.
Ms Lehman said the $200,000 grant would help build a second room to cater for growing demand.
“The additional building will help service the growing population and give us another class for our four to-five-year-olds and another three-year-old program.”
Ms Lehman said 90 families from Grovedale, Waurn Ponds, Marshall, Connewarre, Mt Duneed and even Torquay sent children to the kinder.
The Independent has previously reported kindergartens in the region were struggling to meet demand, with, with Torquay kinder cancelling three-year-old classes in 2011 due to demand for four-year-old places.
