“DRUMMERS get all the chicks”, according to Perfect Fit, but it took each member of the young band to win Geelong’s FReeZACentral Escape to Oz competition.
The group’s prize was a place on the Geelong West Town Hall stage on August 28 alongside three rising Australian rock bands.
Vocalist Brandon Poulter, 22, of Ocean Grove, said Perfect Fit had already toured Australia before winning the Geelong round of the competition for young bands.
“It’s been a very long process to get where we are now but this has made us more hungry,” he said.
“It feels cool that enough people care about our music to buy our stuff – that’s the most satisfying thing.”
Vocalist Lincoln Stolz, 21, of Geelong, said the band had gradually developed its original “pop punk” songs.
“The music is fun, which is our main concern,” he said
“A lot of people are shy around their teenage years, so we want them to feel comfortable at our concerts.”
The four-piece band recently signed with Sydney management agency Carousel Music Group.
Other members are bassist Matt Dietrich, 22, of Barwon Heads and drummer Chris Kelly, 24, of Torquay.
