Momentum with Warriors ahead of Bulleen match

By JOSIP ZILIC

NORTH Geelong’s National Premier League season has new momentum after a 3-1 win away against Springvale White Eagles.
The Warriors’ early possession and forward pressure last weekend helped rising forward Nicholas Jurcic score his first goal of the campaign when the Eagles turned over the ball in their box, leaving him with an easy close-range shot.
The home side then began finding its feet until the Warriors’ Mark Paleka drove a low, hard ball past the keeper to double the lead.
The Eagles made quick changes to get back in the game, with Vojislav Milojevic placing a shot past Frano Saric for the home side’s first goal.
But sub Jackson Davis put the result beyond doubt for the Warriors with a thumping shot from 25m that left the Eagles’ keeper without any chance.
Springvale coach Zlatko Mihaljovic expressed disappointed with the Eagles’ inability to carry out the fundamentals of the game consistently.
North Geelong coach Ante Skoko was impressed with the Warriors’ performance, although he wanted greater consistency over the full 90 minutes.
In the earlier match, the under-20s had a clinical 3-0 win.
North Geelong returns home this Saturday to face Bulleen Lions.
With skipper Michael Anderson and Reardo Luka set to return from injury and suspension respectively, Skoko will have his work cut out for him at the selection table.
