Rodders fire up for hot event at showgrounds

Andrew Mathieson
OLD hot rodders are an optimistic or, at best, a patient bunch.
After all, who else’s creation would be 75 years in the making?
Members of Geelong Street Rodders will show their dedication again this weekend when they put their vehicles on display for An Ole’ Fashioned Hot Rod Show.
Organiser Ray Bedson tipped that Ford roadsters of the 1930s would be the most popular exhibits at Geelong Showgrounds on Saturday and Sunday.
“The cars will be like the way they used to run them years and years ago – a bit more traditional, not so much the high-dollars stuff,” Mr Bedson said.
The event follows the Geelong club’s 35th anniversary show last year.
Mr Bedson said an eclectic mix of “fired-up” coupes, Dodgers, Chevys and a few custom-built cars would again have enthusiasts champing at the bit.
Entry to the show is $5 but free for children aged under 16 when accompanying an adult.
