Colour in fashion for cup ladies

Jessica Benton
A SEA of bright colours, eclectic headpieces and glamorous accessories adorned the stage at Geelong Cup’s Fashions on the Field competition.
The fillies chose vibrant outfits in reds, black, pinks, blues, greens and yellows, while the colts opted for soft-grey suits and pin stripes with blue shirts and ties.
Accessories such as wedged shoes, jewellery, detailed handbags and colourful headwear completed the picture.
MC Rebecca Maddern said the entrants showcased the “glamour and style” of spring fashion.
“The standards of the Geelong Cup have really been lifted today. The fashions are absolutely fabulous this year,” she said.
Women’s contemporary winner Gabrielle Ogilvie, 22, of Grovedale, wore a purple and green cotton knit ensemble lined with green satin and a flower beret.
“I decided to go with green and purple for something different. There are such lovely colours around this season,” she said.
The men’s winner was Casey Carlson in a tailor-made pale grey suit, white shirt, striped tie and Fedora-style hat.
Rebecca Nelson won the classic category for her black and beige outfit.
