Just the tonic the Heads needed

Barwon Heads bounced back into form with a 43-point win against a previously in-form Drysdale.

The margin was a surprise and was 60 points at the last break before the Hawks added five goals to one in the last.

Heads ruckman Luke Davis was best afield while Jack Henderson booted four goals and returning junior Cooper Ward booted three along with Tom Baker.

Defender Jack Jenkins was named Drysdale’s best and Tom Ruggles kicked four majors.

The win was a much needed one for the Heads. They still sit in sixth spot while Drysdale dropped down to fourth, but those last-term goals salvaged some percentage in what is an even season.

Speaking of even, Modewarre threw everything at Geelong Amateur, but went down by two points.

It was close all day. Sam Lloyd out Ammos in front at the 21-minute mark of the last and behinds to Tom Hornsey in the space of a minute, meant Ammos scraped home.

Wingman Sam Bain and defender Dan Weigl were best for Ammos while Callan Farrell (two goals) and midfielder Josh Finch were good for Modda.

Queenscliff moved into second spot with a 56-point win against Anglesea, which is now in fifth place.

Jordan Monahan kicked four for the Coutas while Ryan Baker was best for the Roos.

Portarlington came from behind to defeat Newcomb by three goals.

Newcomb led at every change, including by eight at the last, but the Demons booted five goals to one in the fourth quarter.

Connor Menadue kicked five for Port while Jack Drought booted three for the Power.

Ocean Grove kicked the first two goals of the game against Torquay, but would boot just one more as the Tigers won by 98 points.

Nathan Mifsud was best and Will Montebello kicked four for the third-placed Tigers.

Young defender Jamison Hallam was excellent for the Grubbers.
