East Geelong won the Geelong District Football League minor premiership and earned a week off in the first week of the finals, which begin this weekend.

The Eagles ruthlessly disposed of Corio by 123 points in the final home and away round.

Zac Smith booted nine for East Geelong and Jake Watson-Searle five with the Eagles keeping their opponents to just three goals for the entire game. Tim McLennan and John McIntyre were best.

Corio finished 11th with one win for the season, against Anakie.

Bannockburn did what it needed to secure the double chance by beating gallant North Geelong by 31 points.

The Tigers never looked like losing, but North Geelong snapped at their heels all day.

Bannockburn will play Inverleigh in the qualifying final this weekend.

Connor Jervies was best afield while Brett Harding snagged three goals.

Belmont ended its season on a high, defeating wooden spooner Anakie by 109 points.

Coach Nathan Bisset bagged nine goals and Jak Evans was best on ground and also slotted through three majors.

To Anakie’s credit, it fought the game out and managed 17 scoring shots with Darren Morrish leading the way.

The Lions finished with seven wins for the season while the Roos were winless.

Bell Post Hill was hoping for an upset in the Bannockburn vs North Geelong clash to snare a double chance.

But Bannockburn ruined those plans.

Still, the Panthers kept up their end of the bargain with a 16-point triumph over Geelong West.

The two sides will go at it again this weekend in an elimination final.

The Panthers will take winning form into the cut-throat clash with Beau McNamara and Ben Muir putting in solid shifts on Saturday.

The Giants were well served by Matthew Iannelli, who booted five goals.

Inverleigh did enough to finish second with a 40-point win against Thomson.

After a relatively even first term, the Hawks pulled away with Casey Meehan kicking five goals.

Thomson finished sixth with 10 wins and will be looking to take an extra step into the finals next year.

Winchelsea won its eighth game of the season with a 56-point win against Werribee Centrals.

Leigh Ellis kicked seven in the win.
