Thomson has sacked co-coach Jacob Knight just weeks before the start of the Geelong & District Football League season.
The Tigers terminated Knight’s contract for what it called an “off-field matter”.
In a statement today (Friday 13 March), the club said Knight’s sacking was “effective immediately”.
“The club’s executive has determined that this course of action is in the best interests of the club and its members,” the club said.
“The executive committee takes the culture, standards and reputation of our club very seriously.
“Our expectations of all coaches, players and officials extend beyond the field and reflect the values we strive to uphold within our community.”
Paul Lynch will now be Thomson’s sole coach as the club attempts to improve from its sixth-placed finish last year after winning the premiership in 2024.
“Paul Lynch will remain in his role as senior men’s football coach for the 2026 season, with the club continuing to support him and the playing group moving forward,” the statement said.
“We thank Jacob for his contribution to the club and wish him well for the future.
“Our focus remains on supporting our players, members and volunteers as we continue preparing for the 2026 season.”
