Geelong has lost assistant coach Shaun Grigg to the Gold Coast Suns.

The Cats confirmed they agreed to release Grigg from his 2024 contract to pursue the opportunity under former Richmond coach Damien Hardwick.

Grigg joined the Cats in October 2019 as a development coach following his retirement as a player. After two seasons in the role, Grigg was elevated to assistant coach for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Geelong senior coach Chris Scott thanked Grigg for his contribution to the Cats over his four seasons.

“Shaun has been a great contributor to the club for the last four seasons as a development coach and then as assistant working closely with our midfield group,” he said.

“He has had a positive impact on our players and football program and we wish Shaun, Sarah, Sonny and Spencer all the best for the future.”
