First draw of the season

A barnstorming Grovedale came from 37 points down at three-quarter time to snatch a draw against North Shore in Geelong Football League on Saturday June 3.

Grovedale piled on five goals and eight behinds to the Seagulls’ one behind in a frenetic final term, but the two sides couldn’t be split at the final siren, finishing on 67 apiece.

The Tigers were inaccurate, kicking 8.17 to North Shore’s 10.7.

Beau Tedcastle booted three goals for North Shore after VFL duties have restricted him to two GFL games this season.

Nathan Deans was Grovedale’s best while Mitch Chafer kicked three majors.

Newtown & Chilwell remained unbeaten by knocking off St Mary’s in a close one.

The Eagles got home by eight points after St Mary’s launched a last-quarter comeback.

Charlie Sprague couldn’t have done much more for St Mary’s, booting five of his team’s seven goals while Liam Nash was best for the Eagles and kicked two of his own.

Leopold hung on to beat Geelong West by seven points.

Leopold led by three points at quarter time, the Giants by one at the long break and then Leopold took a six-point lead into the last.

Mitch Patten kicked four for Leopold while Phillip Moimoi did the same for Geelong West.

Hunter Lewis (six) and Paddy De Grandi (five) combined for 11 of St Joseph’s 19 goals against St Albans.

Joeys won by 101 points with Callum Mitchell and Jed Warrin named best while Seth Morell and Jordan Lyons (two goals) were best for the Supersaints.

South Barwon defeated Bell Park by 50 points with Andrew Boseley and Matt Caldow snagging four goals each while Isaac Wareham and Edward Boyer were superb for the Dragons.

Colac brushed Lara aside for a 70-point victory.

Adam Garner and Luke Hillman each kicked four for the Tigers while young gun Connor Linehan-Cunningham continued his brilliant season and Bailey Ettridge kicked five of Lara’s eight goals.
