Cadel Evans road race dates set

Organisers have announced the 2024 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race will take place over the January 27-28 weekend.

The event will see some of the world’s best ride through the roads of Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast.

The world-class one-day classic cycling event features the UCI WorldTour Elite Men’s and Deakin University Elite Women’s races, offering equal prize money for the two races and drawing elite women and men cyclists from around the globe.

The TAC People’s Ride is another popular feature of the cycling carnival, as is the all-inclusive Family Ride along the Geelong Waterfront.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos said the event was a big drawcard to the Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast regions.

“We’re looking forward to seeing a sea of spectators in Geelong and the Surf Coast for the 2024 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race next January,” he said.

“This incredible weekend of cycling will bring thousands of visitors to the region and boost business over the long weekend while also showcasing the stunning scenery of the Great Ocean Road to viewers from around the world.”

Last year’s Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race was broadcast to more than 140 countries and attracted more than 100,000 to the region.

Team FDJ-Suez’s Loes Adegeest won the 2023 women’s race, while Team DSM’s Marius Mayrhofer took out last year’s men’s event.
