Police are investigating a fatal collision in Bell Post Hill on Thursday evening.
It is understood two vehicles collided on Geelong Ring Road about 5.25pm.
The driver and passenger of one of the vehicles both died at the scene.
The five occupants of the second vehicle, two adults and three children, are being taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
The accident caused road closures in both directions till approximately midnight while initial investigations were undertaken.
A police spokesperson said there were no updates available at this stage.
