People can have their say on the Anglesea Community and Health Hub Draft Precinct Plan to meet the community’s needs.
Surf Coast Shire Council endorsed the plan for community consultation during its October 24 meeting, proposing a two-storey integrated community and health hub on McMillian Street.
Councillor Libby Stapleton said it was interesting to see what the new hub could look like and that the plan was another way for council to “find solutions for the affordable accommodation crisis”.
“I look forward to this next round of consultation to learn how people feel about what’s been proposed,” she said.
“The draft precinct plan was informed by extensive input from community, agency stakeholders and Traditional Owners.”
The draft plans also feature nature play spaces, a public community space, and affordable housing for key workers behind the hub.
“Health and community services are struggling to attract and retain workers because they’re unable to find affordable housing in coastal spots like Anglesea,” Cr Stapleton said.
“Well-designed housing in this central location would provide homes for local workers and families, all the while keeping with Anglesea’s treasured coastal character.”
A site walking tour will be available for the public on an Open Day from 4pm to 6.30pm at the McMillan Street precinct on Friday, November 17, and feedback can be provided online or in writing.
“Feedback will help us understand whether we are able to progress to an updated draft plan and cost plan,” Cr Stapleton said.
“A final community-endorsed precinct plan and funding strategy would then be used to attract future investment to bring the plan to life.”
Council secured $200,000 of the state government Investment Fast Track funding for this project on top of its contributed $50,000.
