Police charge 18-year-old with murder over Eastern Beach death

Police have charged a Tarneit teenager with murder following an alleged incident at Geelong’s Eastern Beach.

A 41-year-old Colac man was found with life-threatening head injuries on Ritchie Bvd at Eastern Beach about 11.50pm Monday, police said.

He was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition before later dying from his injuries this morning, according to police.

The victim was last seen leaving a property on Swanston St about 6.15pm dressed in a red and black chequered long sleeved shirt and pants, police said.

Homicide detectives charged an 18-year-old Tarneit man with murder and interviewed an 18-year-old Hillside woman in relation to the incident today.

The man will appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, with police releasing the woman pending further enquiries.
