Man fights for life as homicide squad investigates

Homicide detectives are appealing for witnesses following the discovery of a man with life-threatening injuries in Geelong last night.

The 41-year-old Colac man was last seen leaving a property on Swanston St about 6.15pm dressed in a red and black chequered long sleeved shirt and pants, police said.

He was located with life-threatening head injuries in nearby Ritchie Bvd at Eastern Beach about 11.50pm and was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he remained in a critical condition, according to police.

This is despite some local publications reporting earlier the man had died.

Detectives appealed for anyone who may have seen the man or who has information in relation to the incident to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
