Corio MP and deputy Labor leader Richard Marles will be off the campaign trail for the next week after testing positive for COVID-19.
Mr Marles took to Twitter on Friday morning to reveal he had tested positive.
“This morning after taking a routine test for COVID, I returned a positive result,” he wrote.
“I will be isolating at home and following advice.
“I’ll be back on the trail in no time, fighting for a better future with Anthony Albanese.”
Mr Marles had been campaigning throughout the week, making several funding announcements and election commitments around Geelong with Corangamite MP Libby Coker.
He was due to head to Western Australia over the weekend to take part in Labor’s federal election campaign launch in Perth on Sunday.
Mr Marles had played a more visible role in the election campaign over the last week, as Labor leader Anthony Albanese was in COVID-19 isolation, heading to Darwin for Anzac Day duties.
