Upgrades to Armstrong Creek

Mobile connectivity upgrades are coming to Armstrong Creek, with temporary disruptions affecting Telstra customers starting next week.

Works will begin on the Armstrong Creek East mobile base station from 7am Tuesday, September 30, to bring the region a better 4G/5G user experience.

Telstra Northern and Western Victoria regional general manager Steve Tinker said there will be disruptions to the network during the day from Friday, October 3, to Sunday, October 5.

“While disruption is required while the upgrade is underway, we’ll only be switching off the site when we need to and will have it back online and working better than ever as quickly as possible,” he said.

“The work will make the site ready for a further upgrade to our even faster 5G in the future… and we know how important mobile connectivity is for Australians, whether you’re in the city or the country.

“As data use over our mobile network continues to grow, adding extra 4G/5G capacity to our mobile site in the area will help deliver faster downloads, smoother streaming, and less congestion for customers.”

Mr Tinker said upgrades will help improve the mobile site’s capacity, meaning faster downloads, smoother streaming and less congestion.

Telstra mobile customers will receive texts advising of the upcoming works and can continue to make calls and send texts during the disruption by switching on Wi-Fi Calling, a free setting on most phones.
