Celebrate ageing this October

Geelong Seniors Festival is set to go off with a bang, with events held across the region throughout October.

The annual festival, a month-long celebration of positive ageing and the contribution of older Victorians, includes nearly 50 free or low-cost events including Latin or ballroom dancing, ukulele sessions, film screenings, high tea and shows paying tribute to artists like Tom Jones and Dusty Springfield.

Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said there was so much happening across the region during October’s Seniors Festival.

“I encourage residents over 55 years, who make up approximately 30 per cent of our region’s population, book in their preferred events early to avoid disappointment,” he said.

“The City is delighted to support the Geelong Seniors festival as part of our commitment to engage with seniors, promote social connection and improve mental health and wellbeing.”

Victoria’s minister for Ageing Ingrid Stitt encouraged all Victorians to get involved in the 2025 Seniors Festival

“Check the online calendar on the government website or pick up a program guide at your local Coles or post office,” Ms Stitt said.

“The Victorian government is proud to deliver the annual Seniors Festival, a month-long celebration of the remarkable contributions older Victorians make to our state.”

Bookings are essential. Visit geelongaustralia.com.au/apa for the full program of local events, or seniorsonline.vic.gov.au/festival to see what’s happening across the state during the Victorian Seniors Festival 2025.
