Barwon Water’s new managing director

Shaun Cumming has been appointed as the new managing director of Barwon Water after an extensive recruitment process.

Chair Jo Plummer announced on Wednesday, September 20, following Mr Cumming serving in the role on an interim basis after Tracey Slatter’s departure in June.

Ms Plummer said Mr Cumming was the right person to deliver the organisation’s Strategy 2030 and 2023 Price Submission to progress commitments to its community and customers.

“It is with absolute delight that I announce and welcome, on behalf of the Board, Shaun Cumming officially to the role of managing director for the next five years,” she said.

“Shaun’s vision, leadership, passion and care shone through at every stage of the recruitment process, which shortlisted six outstanding candidates.

“He has extensive experience in operations, construction, business development, program delivery and transformation over a 25-year career in the water industry.”

Mr Cumming said he was looking forward to building on the work that the Barwon Water had already done to extend the mindset of water utility.

“Barwon Water is uniquely placed to support a thriving community, deliver a sustainable water future and help drive new opportunities in the circular economy,” he said.

“I’ll focus on nurturing relationships, ensuring we deliver value in partnership with our customers, community, Traditional Owners and stakeholders and continue to innovate for positive change.

“We are in a great position to continue to lead, innovate, partner and find ways to solve problems facing our region.”
