Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are en route to the scene of a fatal collision in Teesdale.
It’s believed a child was struck by a vehicle as he was walking to school on Bannockburn-Shelford Road just after 8am.
CPR was performed but sadly the child has died at the scene.
The vehicle involved left the scene but was located at an address in Teesdale.
The female driver is assisting police to determine the exact circumstances.
