A woman has been arrested and charged following an alleged carjacking in Hamlyn Heights.
A 74-year-old woman was in her car at a traffic stop on the evening of Sunday February 26 when she was allegedly approached by a 27-year-old woman and threatened with a knife.
The driver got out of her car under the direction of the younger woman, who tried to drive away but was stopped by witnesses.
Several people rushed to the victim’s aid, got the younger woman out of the car and held her until police arrived, Victoria Police said in a statement.
A woman has been charged with aggravated carjacking and is set to appear at Geelong Magistrates Court on Monday February 27.
