Geelong Legacy Club is calling on the community to buy a badge this Legacy Week, which runs from Sunday August 28 to Saturday September 3.
For almost a century, Legacy has kept the promise to thousands of veterans’ families – helping provide financial and social support during times of hardship and grief.
For the last two years, COVID-19 and lockdowns have created difficulties for Legacy Week volunteers to fundraise in the community. Legacy is hoping that face-to-face fundraising this year will help increase donations that help provide support and services for some of the most vulnerable in the community.
Club president Leighton Bullock said that Geelong Legacy looks after some 571 widows and 30 children and Legacy Week fundraising plays a vital part in the Club’s capacity to provide assistance.
Geelong Legacy Club currently looks after several veterans’ families, providing services like home-care visits, day trips, education support, holiday camps for Legacy Youth.
Legacy merchandise, including badges, pens and Legacy bears will be available at the club, 182 Ryrie Street, and at some shopping centres.
