Mystery $1.2m Highton lotto win

A mystery lotto player has won more than $1.2 million over the weekend after purchasing their ticket in Highton.

The mystery winner bought their unregistered ticket at Highton Lotto Agency, store owner John Hodgson confirmed on Monday morning.

“We have got a bit of good news in these challenging times,” Mr Hodgson told the Independent.

“Someone’s walking around with a ticket in their hand, so that’s very exciting! It will be financial freedom for the rest of their lives, I daresay.”

The lotto player won $1,232,163.59 in Saturday night’s Tattslotto draw. But lotto officials had yet to track down the mystery winner on Monday morning.

Given the ticket was unregistered, officials must now wait for the winner to come forward.

The winner still might have no idea they had won, a Tattslotto spokesperson told the Independent.

The win is the second division one-winning ticket Mr Hodgson and wife Vivienne have sold in their three years at Highton Lotto.

“The outlet’s been quite lucky,” Mr Hodgson said.

“I think there’s been 18 to 20 division one winners over the years. The gold medals on the wall tell their stories.”

Their last division one winner was a Highton woman who took home more than $574,000 in February 2019 from an unregistered ticket.

Meanwhile, another local lotto player won $24,999 from a division one-winning entry in Saturday night’s Super 66 draw.

The winner purchased their registered ticket at Bell Post Lotto and News, a Tattslotto spokesperson said.

But despite their entry being registered, lotto officials had yet to make contact with them, meaning they too could be in the dark about their windfall.

The chances of winning division one in Tattlsotto’s Saturday night draw are one in 8,145,060.
