Geelong community members will have the opportunity to speak directly with City councillors at an informal consultation session before this week’s council meeting.
The City of Greater Geelong will hold a Meet Your Councillor event at Wurriki Nyal Civic Precinct on Tuesday, March 25.
Running from 4.45pm to 5.30pm, the event will give members of the public the chance to raise questions and concerns with their local councillor outside of the formal council meeting setting.
Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj said he hoped the discussion would provide a new avenue for the people of Geelong to have their questions heard.
“This trial session will offer an informal environment for us to all converse freely and openly,” Mayor Kontelj said.
“We recognise that perhaps not everyone feels comfortable speaking publicly in a formal environment at Council meetings. We hope this session will alleviate these barriers and offer an alternative for those still looking to engage councillors and make their questions or concerns known.”
