Teens interviewed after Geelong collisions

Four teenagers have been interviewed by Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives following two collisions and erratic driving in the Geelong area yesterday.

Patrolling officers were notified of numerous 000 calls reporting a Nissan Pathfinder driving erratically in metropolitan Melbourne earlier in the day.

Police spotted the Nissan Pathfinder and attempted to intercept it before it allegedly took off at speed on Patullos Road in Lara just after noon.

It is understood the car, which was stolen from Coburg North, was involved in earlier incidents including multiple hit-run collisions and reports of erratic driving across Keilor East, Bundoora and Mill Park.

Police were later called to reports of two collisions on Moorabool Street in Geelong about 12.30pm.

The Nissan was then involved in a hit-run collision at the intersection of Ryrie Street, before colliding with another vehicle and coming to a stop at the intersection of Myers Street. There were no injuries. The five occupants allegedly fled the scene on foot.

The driver of the Nissan, and primary person of interest, remains outstanding.

Multiple police units cordoned the area and arrested the four alleged passengers of the Nissan.

They were each interviewed by detectives in relation to being passengers of the vehicle.

A 15-year-old girl from the Whittlesea area was released pending further enquiries, while a 13-year-old boy from the Hume area, 13-year-old girl from the Whittlesea area and 14-year-old boy from the Melton area were each issued cautions.

The investigation into the group’s alleged prior offending has been handed over to police in metropolitan Melbourne and remains ongoing.

Police are investigating if the vehicle was stolen from a person known to the driver.

Anyone who witnessed any of the incidents, has dashcam or CCTV footage or anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an online confidential report at crimestoppersvic.com.au.
