A man has allegedly pulled an “edged weapon” on a Herne Hill bottle shop worker to steal a cask of wine, according to police hunting him.
Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives released CCTV images of a man in hope of identifying him following the alleged armed robbery on Sunday.
The man entered the Minerva Road bottle shop just before 5pm on April 19, according to investigators.
“The unknown man asked an employee if he could have a cask of wine as he had no cash,” a police spokesperson said.
“When the employee refused the man threatened him before taking a bottle of wine and leaving.”
The same man returned to the store about an hour later, the spokesperson said.
“On this occasion he threatened the 30-year-old employee with an edged weapon before taking a cask of wine and fleeing.”
Police released images of a man who they “believe may be able to assist” investigators “with their enquiries”.
They described the man as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, about 25-years-old and 170cm tall with a thin build.
He was wearing a bucket hat, a black jacket with a lamb’s wool inner hood, light denim jeans and black Nike slides, police said.
